Ice Melt

Ice Melt is a focus timer built around a melting ice cube. Choose how long you want to focus, start a session, and watch the ice slowly turn into a puddle. The melt follows your session’s duration, giving passing time a shape you can follow.

The app is still in progress. Here are three parts I’ve been working on.

Following along outside the app

A Live Activity keeps the session visible on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. A small ice-cube illustration sits alongside the countdown, carrying a little of the app with you while you’re doing something else.

Choosing how long to focus

Choose a preset or open the ruler to set a custom duration. Scrubbing along the ruler previews the time with haptic feedback, and releasing confirms it. The picker expands and folds back into the timer.

Putting together a sound mix

You can open the sound mix sheet during a focus session to combine up to three sounds that play in the background as you focus. Each card acts as a volume slider: its fill and percentage follow your finger, and switching categories keeps the levels you’ve already set.
